Please give some more details of your startup story
For over 10 years in Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, I saw the same broken process over and over. Companies were struggling to hire because of a lack of time, outdated tech, and a ton of unconscious bias. And candidates were getting a terrible hiring experience.
My experience and studies on decision-making biases inspired me to research and work on a new approach. I was fortunate to find others who shared my vision, and together we began building a solution. That project became Bloomie. Today, we’re a team of seven, fully bootstrapped, with an MVP ready to enter the market.
Tell us more about your plans for 2025 and what is your long-term vision.
We’re currently testing our hiring solution and will keep refining our primary ATS (Application Tracking System) offering through fall 2025. We’re looking to partner with more small and medium-sized companies who want to collaborate closely and test the platform. In return, they’ll get a tailored, intelligent ATS that fits their needs.
Early next year, once we’ve implemented our clients’ feedback, we’ll begin scaling sales of our primary ATS solution and will launch an additional service focused on helping job seekers.
Our long-term vision is to democratize hiring for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), giving them the same powerful tools and capabilities as large corporations. We aim to support them in their digital adoption journeys and plan to expand into other markets beyond Switzerland.
What has been the biggest success that you have achieved in your startup?
For me, the biggest success has been getting others to share my vision. As a founder, you start with just an idea, and the true milestone is when you can build a team of passionate people who believe in that idea enough to help create something tangible that genuinely adds value for others. That sense of shared purpose is the foundation for everything else, including our ability to scale and monetize down the road.
If you could do it all over again…
I don’t think I would change our failures if I had to do it all over again, as the lessons we learned were invaluable. That said, I would have focused on building more structure from the beginning and accelerating our time to market. But the journey itself has been just as important as our goals, and it has truly shaped our team into what it is today.
What motivates you to continue your business every day?
I’m motivated by a clear problem in the market: the significant mismatch between skilled individuals and the companies that need them. Too often, great talent is overlooked, and excellent companies struggle to grow. Ensuring that the right person is in the right role thanks to Bloomie is what keeps me going every single day.
One piece of advice for someone who is just starting out with their startup?
Relentlessly focus on solving a real problem for your target customers. Talk to them constantly, iterate based on their feedback, and validate your solution rigorously. Your product’s true value lies in how well it addresses a genuine need.
