We recently had the pleasure of interviewing one of our Premium Members: Miro Hegnauer, the Founder & CEO of Konova AG. It’s always great to see our Startup Members succeeding, and to learn about their how and why. Read on to find out more about Konova AG and be inspired by their story!   

Introducing the Startup: Konova AG

With our SaaS solution «E-Mitwirkung», we enable public institutions and private organizations to involve stakeholders in projects in a participatory and efficient manner and to strengthen the dialog. This results in successful solutions that are widely accepted and verified. We were founded in 2017 after successfully implementing a pilot project at the Canton of Obwalden and identifying a high potential for digital stakeholder management. In the meantime, our team consists of twelve team members.

What are your plans for 2022/2023? What is your long-term vision?

As a first step, we would like our solution to be used by the majority of Swiss administrations ​and to further improve the dialog between the administration and the population. We are already well on the way here. In a second step, we would like to evaluate and build up new customer segments such as associations, political parties, and companies.

What has been the biggest success that you have achieved in your startup?

Establishment of a meaningful SaaS solution, which is now used in over 100 municipalities, cities, and cantons and brings real value to public administrations and society.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? What are your biggest learnings?

In the beginning, we focused on one use case and built the software architecture tailored to this. In retrospect, I would build the software solution more modularly so that it can be used even more flexibly.

One piece of advice for someone who is just starting out with their startup?

Participatively develop the solution and pricing with existing and potential customers to ensure it is aligned with the target audience.

What does it mean to you to be a member of the Swiss Startup Association? 

Being part of a network where I can exchange ideas with other startups and we can benefit from each other’s experiences. I would advise other startups to join the Swiss Startup Association because as a startup, you have many problems that others have already solved. If you can profit from this experience, you can save yourself from bad investments. Another advantage is that you get to participate in exclusive events through the Swiss Startup Association. I participated in the Founders Dinner. It was a small and quality round with other founders and a very inspiring event.
