Please tell us about AgroSustain

At AgroSustain, we help keep your fruits, vegetables and flowers fresh longer with our natural and biological pre- and post-harvest solutions for sustainable production and distribution, from grower to consumer.

AgroSustain was incorporated in May 2018 with the mission to reduce food waste, while providing high-quality fresh produce using environmentally friendly solutions of natural origin. We work directly with food growers and distributors of fresh fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers, who are applying our edible coating in their premises (packaging stations) to extend the shelf-life of their produce and preserve the crop quality, while minimising the usage of post-harvest treatments of chemical origin.

Tell us more about your plans for 2024 and what is your long-term vision.

2024 is the year of the commercial rollout of our first product, the edible coating, in Switzerland and selected EU countries. Our long-term vision is to provide a line of efficient, environmentally friendly solutions to preserve crop quality in the field and after the harvest by putting on the market a new line of biostimulants and biofungicides.

What has been the biggest success that you have achieved in your startup?

Getting our edible coating, AgroSustain’s very first product, on the market! Besides that, we are also very happy with the positive client feedback we have been receiving.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? What are your biggest learnings?

The team is essential to a startup’s success. Choose the right people who share your vision and are ready to contribute to the company’s success.

What motivates you to continue your business every day?

Learning something new everyday of our startup journey. Not being able to guess or predict what will happen next is why the entrepreneur life is such an exciting roller coaster ride.
