We are Tobias, Pascal and Roger, the co-founders of hypt. Tobias is responsible for sales, finance and HR, Pascal is focused on our product and marketing, and as the CTO, Roger makes sure that the product vision is translated into code.

hypt was founded in Bern in 2022 and currently has a team of 13 ambitious employees based in Bern, Switzerland and Valencia, Spain. Our SaaS solution empowers banks and insurance companies to digitize word-of-mouth. 

When talking to small and large businesses, we always received the same answer regarding word-of-mouth marketing. To get recommendations, companies improve their product or service and hope that their happy and satisfied customers will recommend the company to their friends. Hope is not a marketing strategy, and that’s why we started hypt.

By using our word-of-mouth manager, companies are able to activate 40% of their existing customers to send out a personal recommendation to their peers, thereby increasing sales opportunities through word-of-mouth by four time! For the first time businesses are able to strategically use and optimize the most authentic and cost effective advertising channel – word-of-mouth – and make it an accessible asset of every marketing mix.

Tell us more about your plans for 2024? What is your long-term vision?

hypt is just getting started. We are aiming to reach $1M ARR by the end of this year and are working eagerly to take our product to the next level. Our vision is to add word-of-mouth to every single marketing mix in the world.

What has been the biggest success that you have achieved in your startup?

Since our two years of being founded, we were able to win large Swiss enterprise customers such as BEKB, Migros Bank, BLKB, CSS, Helvetia, Rivella and ImmoScout24 early on, which proved to us that our product is needed in the market and that we have made several right decisions impacting such an outcome.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? What are your biggest learnings?

We would choose a company color that you can find fabric for. Our watermelon is an amazing color to stand out, but we had a hard time finding hoodies, and t-shirts … in our color.

What motivates you to continue your business every day?

It is incredible to see your idea grow into a concept, an MVP, acquire your first customers, gain your first revenues, receive your first paycheck, and onboarding your first employees. All the small wins give you so much energy and make up for all the time, effort and challenges that come our way.

One piece of advice for someone who is just starting out with their startup?

Before investing resources in product development, talk to as many people as possible. That’s how you validate your business, get new ideas and save a lot of money.

What does it mean to you to be a member of the Swiss Startup Association?

We are very grateful that there are organizations like the Swiss Startup Association that support the Swiss startup ecosystem. It is important that early stage companies like ours get as much support as possible and learn from experienced entrepreneurs.

Would you recommend joining the Swiss Startup Association? If yes, why? 

Yes, especially early on, it is important to surround yourself with experienced, like-minded people.

Have you ever visited the events of the Swiss Startup Association? 

Yes, we have! Pascal attended the founders’ dinner in Oerlikon and in Bern. We’re always happy to meet new people who are on the same journey – networking is everything. We would definitely recommend checking out the upcoming events of the SSA.
