Meet Tarek Manai & Roman Kormann, Co-Founders of EasyRep AG
Tell us more about Easyrep.
Anyone who’s ever taken their car to a workshop knows the problem: three mechanics, three different diagnoses — and in the end, a bill that’s hard to understand. The solution is a small device that plugs into the car’s diagnostic port, combined with an app.
The app translates error codes into clear language and provides realistic repair cost estimates:
“It’s dangerous to keep driving – stop immediately.”
“Repair strongly recommended.”
“No risk – booking an appointment in the next few weeks is fine.”
With that, Easyrep is building the future of driving freedom. Our plug-and-play device turns any car into a smart, connected partner that delivers real-time insights, predictive warnings, and voice control. Our mission is to give drivers back control over their mobility.
Please give some more details of your startup story: what was the “aha” moment that led to the idea for your startup?
Friends kept running into the same issues — repair cost overruns, recurring faults, and zero transparency. In an age of constant connectivity, why is car ownership still a black box? Out of that frustration grew our mission: to give drivers control, clarity, and confidence on every journey.
So, what’s next for you — what’s a bold goal you’re chasing right now?
We’re currently in a testing phase with selected users. The next step is to integrate feedback from this phase to refine the device and prepare it for market launch. Interested customers can already pre-order the device on Easyrep’s website.
Which decision (big or small) had the most unexpected positive impact on your startup?
One of the best decisions we made was to collect feedback not in writing, but live during the early test phase. We organized a live event, and it turned out to be more than just a feedback session — it was proof. Seeing drivers’ reactions in real time was incredibly valuable and motivating. It showed us that we’re not just building a product, but a movement that people genuinely want to be part of.
How did you build your team, and what helps you maintain your startup culture?
We started with industry experts and stakeholders who share the same passion: car experts, engineers, and business minds united by a single vision — giving drivers their freedom back. We trust each other, know our strengths, and do whatever it takes to achieve our goal.
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? What are your biggest learnings?
We’d involve real drivers even earlier. Lab work is theory — real roads tell the truth. Early feedback accelerates progress and helps you avoid building in the wrong direction.
Building a startup requires resilience. How do you stay focused during tough times?
Our mission is bigger than any obstacle. We work late, give up weekends, and push through setbacks because we know the impact Easyrep will have. “Whatever it takes” is our operating system.
One piece of advice for someone who is just starting out with their startup?
Speed beats perfection. Get to market early, learn from real users, and adapt fast. Don’t wait for the perfect moment — it doesn’t exist. Commit fully and act before the world catches up.
What’s your outlook on the future of the Swiss startup scene, and how can it compete internationally?
Switzerland has the talent and resources to stand out globally. We’ve met many truly innovative startups here, and the pattern is clear: those who anticipate future trends are the ones who succeed internationally.
What value do you see in being part of the Swiss Startup Association (personally and professionally)?
It’s about connection — learning from other founders, sharing successes and failures, and finding partners who share your drive. Networking and visibility help, but the real value lies in the people.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us/the community?
This is bigger than us. It’s about drivers, innovators, and the future of mobility. If you believe cars should serve their owners — and not the other way around — join the Easyrep movement. The road ahead belongs to us.
