Meet Christoph Süess, CEO of Micromate
Tell us about Micromate
Micromate is a Zurich-based B2B SaaS EdTech innovator that empowers organizations with a chat-based digital learning assistant, making learning personalized, gamified, and sustainable for lasting impact.
Please give some more details of your startup story
Employee competence is the #1 success factor for companies. However, with the speed of change and the human tendency to forget, keeping the knowledge of employees updated is a challenge. Our digital learning assistant Micromate makes learning simple, personalized, and engaging, ensuring employees continuously grow and adapt.
Tell us more about your plans for 2025 and what is your long-term vision.
In 2025, we’re elevating our product with enhanced quality and features, expanding our market presence in DACH, and gearing up to grow our team.
What has been the biggest success that you have achieved in your startup?
Our core team has been innovating together for 5 to 10 years across various projects. Micromate is our latest venture, and we’re proud to see companies across the DACH region embracing it. After reaching the finals of the e-Learning Excellence Awards last year in Porto, Portugal, we’re thrilled to have secured second place in this year’s prestigious Delina EdTech Award.
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? What are your biggest learnings?
Be honest with yourself and your company—don’t get trapped in a tunnel vision. Step back, assess your company objectively, and have the courage to change course when needed.
What motivates you to continue your business every day?
I’ve always loved playing games. A startup is much like one – it’s about finding the best strategy to succeed. It’s a long journey, so surround yourself with the right people and make sure to take breaks along the way.
One piece of advice for someone who is just starting out with their startup?
There are plenty of great startup books and advisors out there, but some lessons only sink in through experience. Start, fail, learn, repeat—this cycle will be your best teacher. Just make sure to fail fast and never skip the learning step!
What does it mean to you to be a member of the Swiss Startup Association? (personally, and professionally)
The Swiss Startup Association offers a wide range of training programs on various topics and provides a broad network. We look forward to learning, connecting, and being part of the community.
Would you recommend joining the Swiss Startup Association? Why?
We just joined, so it’s too early to say. However, the first event was great, and we’re looking forward to more.
Have you ever visited the events of the Swiss Startup Association? If yes, which ones? Would you recommend them?
Yes, I joined the “How to become investment ready as an early stage tech startup” and it was a very insightful event, with lots of learnings.
